Changes to 2018-19 School Calendar

The Board of Trustees has made some minor changes to the 2018-19 calendar.  The changes were made in response to feedback from parents at the end of this school year.

School will begin as scheduled on Wednesday, Aug. 29,  but will now end Friday, May 31. The new calendar DOES NOT affect Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break or Spring break. The changes include:

  • Regular school days on Oct. 5 and Jan. 21, which were originally scheduled as PD/Inservice days.
  • A reduction in instructional hours closer to the minimum allowed by the state.
  • High school graduations will be rescheduled some time the week of May 27.

In the coming months, the district will gather more input from parents, teachers, staff and patrons on future school calendars. Questions? Send them to us.

Flex savings

The district is changing the provider for the Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).   Our new provider will be American Insurance Service.

With this change it is important to remember the following information:

1. American Fidelity will administer the FSA until the end of the plan year – September 30, 2017.

2. Submit all of your qualified medical expenses incurred during the current plan year to American Fidelity.  At the end of the plan year you will still have the 90 day run off period during which you may submit claims for reimbursement which were incurred during the immediately preceding plan year to American Fidelity.

3. If you have funds left in your American Fidelity FSA account at the end of the plan year (September 30, 2017) up to $500.00 will roll over to your new FSA administered by American Insurance Service.   These funds WILL NOT be available until the 90 day run off period expires.  At the end of the 90 day run off period (after February 1, 2018 to allow for processing time) American Fidelity will transfer your remaining funds (up to $500) to your FSA with American Insurance Service.

4. Open enrollment for a 2017-2018 plan year flexible spending account with American Insurance Service will be August 15, 2017 through September 30, 2017.   We will use electronic enrollment; and you will be able to enroll from home. You are also welcome to stop by the district office and Human Resources will help you with the electronic enrollment.

Watch your mail for a letter from American Insurance Service with instructions regarding enrollment.  If you have any questions, please call Heather at 525-7555 or Tina from American Insurance Service at 529-3541.

UNUM Life Insurance
Life Insurance:  Our life insurance will change to UNUM on 9/1/2017.  All of our current policies will transfer from Life Map.  An important change with UNUM is that UNUM offers a supplemental voluntary life insurance with a guarantee issue clause.  This means that if you purchase $10,000 benefit supplemental voluntary life insurance policy now you can increase coverage to the guaranteed issue maximum later without evidence of insurability.  This can only occur during open enrollment.   If you have a supplemental voluntary life policy of $10,000 or more with Life Map, you will qualify for this guarantee issue benefit from UNUM.  Please click on the links below for an enrollment form and the Supplemental Life Benefit Summary.

American Fidelity, AFLAC and Conseco will still provide supplemental policies.  An American Fidelity and AFLAC representative will be available in the school buildings the last week of September.  Contact information:  American Fidelity -  Dave Anderson,  AFLAC - Adam Korth 208-390-6967 and Conseco –
